This is a John Yankanvich fly. He ties it using white ostrich herl for the tail which gives the fly incredible action in the water. I substituted slender white saddle hackle because of price and durability concerns. Ostrich herl is expensive for the amount needed and not durable at all. I do not believe my version sacrifices too much action.
