This is a variation of Jonny King's Kinky Muddler fly tied with a Craft Fur tail which gives it great action in the water. The head is tied with Farrar's SF Blend and then trimmed. The result is a bulky 3-D head that pushes a lot of water. It is limited to 4" maximum length and uses lead wire wrapped around the shank of the hook to add a just a bit of weight. Large Hologram eyes provide a strike point for predators. I believe this fly would work quite well on any saltwater predators that chase bait fish.
The premium hook will be a Gamakatzu SL12S or an Owner Aki, depending on the size. Any fly larger than a 3/0 is always tied on a premium hook.
This fly has been used with much success in Cuba and the baby Tarpon fishery in Mexico. It will work on Tarpon anywhere. See the Tarpon section of the website.
